Touriga Nacional (too-Ree-gah nah-syoo-NHL) - One of the best Portuguese red wines, fruit is disease resistant, strong thick skin. Great wine - powerful, rustic, complex, concentrated, delicate floral aromas of violets, with notes of leather, clove and mint. Tannins are huge so expect a dry grippy palate, flavours of dark berries, deep purple in colour, high density well balanced wine, with excellent aging potential. 10-20 years. Pair with BBQ lamb, beef, stews, mushroom and strong cheeses.
